Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 13, 2026 · Last Updated: February 13, 2026
BlessUp ("we," "our," or "us") operates the BlessUp mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. BlessUp is designed with a privacy-first architecture: all personal data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to external servers, third parties, or cloud services.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
During the onboarding process and normal use of the App, you may voluntarily provide the following information, all of which is stored locally on your device:
| Data | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| First name | Personalization of greetings and interface | On-device only |
| Emotional well-being responses (numerical scale 1–5) | Tailoring prayer experience | On-device only |
| Faith journey stage (e.g., exploring, returning, growing) | Personalizing onboarding content | On-device only |
| Prayer frequency and preferred prayer time | Scheduling notifications and prayer sessions | On-device only |
| Self-identified barriers to prayer | Personalizing onboarding content | On-device only |
| Personal intention or goal (free-text, optional) | Displaying motivational content | On-device only |
| Prayer style preference | Customizing prayer flow | On-device only |
1.2 Information Generated Through Use
The App automatically generates and stores the following data locally on your device as you use the App:
- Prayer completion records: Dates and times of completed prayer sessions, used to calculate streak data and weekly/monthly summaries.
- Streak data: Current streak length, longest streak, milestone history, and calendar of completed prayer days.
- Emotional check-in responses: Anonymized numerical slider values (0.0–1.0 scale) recorded during the prayer flow to enhance your experience.
- App preferences and settings: Notification time, unlock duration, appearance mode, haptic feedback preference, and notification toggles.
- Subscription status flags: Boolean values indicating whether a free trial has been started or a premium subscription purchased. No payment details are stored by the App.
1.3 Screen Time and Device Activity Data
BlessUp uses Apple's Screen Time API, Family Controls framework, and Device Activity framework to enable its core app-shielding functionality. These Apple frameworks are designed with privacy at their core:
- The App uses opaque application tokens provided by Apple's frameworks. These tokens allow the App to shield and unshield selected applications without ever accessing, reading, or storing the names, identifiers, or usage data of those applications.
- The App does not monitor, record, collect, or transmit any information about which specific applications you use, how frequently you use them, or how long you use them.
- The App stores only the opaque
FamilyActivitySelectiontoken (provided by Apple) in the shared App Group container to coordinate shielding across the App and its extensions. - Device Activity Monitor extensions run on-device and are used solely to reset the daily prayer requirement at midnight. No usage data is collected, logged, or transmitted during this process.
1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
BlessUp does not collect, access, or process any of the following:
- Email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, or other contact information
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, or other unique identifiers)
- Location data (GPS, IP-based, or otherwise)
- Photos, videos, audio recordings, or camera/microphone data
- Contacts, calendar data, or health data
- Browsing history, search history, or cookies
- Financial information, payment card details, or banking data
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
- Crash reports, diagnostic data, or performance analytics
2. How We Use Your Information
All data collected is used exclusively for the following purposes and is processed entirely on your device:
- App Functionality: To deliver the core prayer experience, including daily prayer flows, scripture readings, gratitude reflections, and streak tracking.
- App Shielding: To manage the shielding and unshielding of selected applications based on daily prayer completion, using Apple's Screen Time frameworks.
- Personalization: To address you by name, tailor content based on your faith journey, and adjust prayer experiences to your stated preferences.
- Notifications: To deliver local notifications reminding you of your daily prayer time and providing weekly and monthly summaries of your prayer activity.
- Widget Display: To display streak data, daily verses, and prayer completion status on Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets via Apple's WidgetKit framework.
We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, analytics, profiling, data mining, sale to third parties, or any purpose other than those listed above.
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 On-Device Storage
All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's UserDefaults system within a shared App Group container (group.com.blessup.app). This container enables the App and its extensions (Device Activity Monitor, Shield Action, Shield Configuration, and Widgets) to share necessary data for core functionality.
No data is transmitted to, stored on, or backed up to any external server, cloud service, or third-party system operated by BlessUp. We do not operate servers, databases, APIs, or any backend infrastructure that receives your data.
3.2 Device Security
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including device passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and hardware encryption. We recommend that you maintain a strong device passcode and keep your device's operating system up to date to ensure the highest level of data protection.
3.3 iCloud Backup
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, data stored in UserDefaults may be included in your device's iCloud backup. This backup is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and your iCloud account settings. BlessUp does not control, access, or manage iCloud backups. You may disable iCloud Backup at any time through your device's Settings.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
4.1 No Third-Party Data Sharing
BlessUp does not share, sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your personal data to any third party for any purpose. Because all data resides solely on your device, no third party has access to your information through the App.
4.2 Third-Party Services
The App integrates exclusively with the following Apple-provided system frameworks. No third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or external libraries are used:
- Apple StoreKit: Used to process in-app purchases and subscriptions. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. BlessUp does not receive, access, or store your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID credentials. Purchases are governed by Apple's Terms and Conditions.
- Apple Family Controls / Screen Time API: Used for app shielding functionality as described in Section 1.3.
- Apple UserNotifications: Used for local-only notifications. No notification data is sent to any external service.
- Apple WidgetKit: Used to display widgets on your Home Screen and Lock Screen.
4.3 No Tracking
BlessUp does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The App does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because no tracking occurs. We do not collect or use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
5. Data Retention and Deletion
5.1 Retention
Your data is retained on your device for as long as the App is installed. There is no time-based automatic deletion, as the data supports ongoing functionality such as streak tracking and personalization.
5.2 Deletion
You may delete all data associated with BlessUp at any time by any of the following methods:
- Uninstalling the App: Deleting the App from your device removes all locally stored data, including all preferences, prayer history, streak data, and onboarding information.
- In-App Reset: You may reset the App to its initial state through the onboarding flow, which clears all stored data.
Because no data is stored on external servers, deletion from your device constitutes complete and permanent deletion of all data associated with your use of the App.
6. Children's Privacy
BlessUp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is intended for use by individuals who can independently consent to data processing, or by parents and guardians managing their own devices.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under the age of 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at the address below. Upon verification, we will provide instructions for deleting such data (which, given the App's on-device architecture, consists of uninstalling the App).
With respect to the App's Screen Time and app-shielding functionality: the App uses Apple's opaque application tokens, which means BlessUp never accesses, sees, or stores any information about a child's app usage. The App is designed to be configured by the device owner and does not independently collect data from or about minors.
7. Your Rights Under Applicable Law
7.1 European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of Access: You may request confirmation of whether we process your personal data and obtain a copy thereof. Because all data is stored on your device, you may access it directly through the App.
- Right to Rectification: You may correct inaccurate personal data. You may update your name and preferences through the App's settings at any time.
- Right to Erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data. Uninstalling the App deletes all data.
- Right to Data Portability: Because all data resides on your device and is not transmitted to our systems, data portability is inherently satisfied — you retain full possession and control of your data at all times.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You may restrict certain processing by adjusting App settings (e.g., disabling notifications).
- Right to Object: You may object to processing by ceasing use of the App and uninstalling it.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the App, which permanently deletes all data.
Legal Basis for Processing: The legal basis for processing your personal data is your consent, which you provide by voluntarily entering information into the App and granting Screen Time permissions. Processing is also based on the performance of the contract between you and BlessUp (i.e., providing the App's services).
7.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to Know: You have the right to know what personal information we collect. This is described in full in Section 1 of this Policy.
- Right to Delete: You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. Uninstalling the App constitutes complete deletion.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale: BlessUp does not sell personal information to any third party. No opt-out mechanism is necessary because no sale occurs.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.
7.3 Other Jurisdictions
If you are located in another jurisdiction with applicable data protection laws, you may have similar rights. Because BlessUp stores all data exclusively on your device and does not transmit data externally, your privacy is protected by design regardless of your jurisdiction.
8. App Privacy Nutrition Label
In accordance with Apple's App Store requirements, BlessUp's App Privacy "nutrition label" reflects the following: Data Not Collected. Because all data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to BlessUp or any third party, the App qualifies for the "Data Not Collected" designation across all categories defined by Apple.
9. Notifications
The App requests permission to send local notifications. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and are not sent through any external push notification service or server. Notification content includes daily prayer reminders, weekly prayer summaries, and monthly progress updates. You may disable notifications at any time through the App's settings or your device's system settings. No functionality is withheld or restricted based on your notification preference.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where practicable, provide notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
