Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about BlessUp, the reading gate, and starting your morning in Scripture instead of the feed.

What is BlessUp?

BlessUp is an iPhone app that shields your most distracting apps until you read the day's chapter of Scripture. That takes about nine minutes and moves you one day further through a 365-day plan, so a year of it takes you from Genesis to Revelation. Finish the reading and your apps open.

How does the reading gate work?

You choose which apps to shield — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, games, anything that pulls you in. Each morning those apps stay locked until you open BlessUp and read the day's chapter. Once you finish, your apps open. You decide which apps are shielded, how long they stay open afterwards, and what time everything re-locks at night.

Is BlessUp free?

BlessUp is free to download and free to start on the App Store. There is also an optional subscription, BlessUp Gold, which comes with a 3-day free trial and can be cancelled anytime. You can begin building the habit without paying anything.

Why does BlessUp ask for Screen Time permission?

BlessUp uses Apple's built-in Screen Time technology to shield the apps you choose. That permission is what lets BlessUp hold your distracting apps closed until you've read. Your Screen Time data is processed on your device — BlessUp stores your personal data locally and never sends it to external servers.

What is Bible Mode?

Bible Mode helps you trade mindless scrolling for Scripture. Instead of opening a feed, you open the Word. The day's reading is already waiting, so you never have to work out where you left off.

Does BlessUp have iPhone widgets?

Yes. BlessUp includes home screen widgets that put a daily Bible verse right on your iPhone, so Scripture is the first thing you see when you pick up your phone.

How is BlessUp different from Hallow or Haven?

Hallow offers a deep library of guided audio prayers, and Haven focuses on blocking explicit content. BlessUp takes a habit-first approach: it shields your distracting apps until you read the day's chapter. It meets you at the exact moment you'd normally start scrolling and turns that moment into Scripture — so the habit sticks.

How does the streak work?

Every day you read or pray, your streak grows, because both count. Miss a day and a grace day covers it automatically, so nothing resets and you pick up where you left off. Grace refills after three kept days in a row, which keeps it from becoming a loophole.

Is my data private?

Yes. BlessUp is built privacy-first: your personal data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to external servers, third parties, or cloud services. There's no tracking and no third-party data sharing. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Is BlessUp available on Android?

BlessUp is currently available for iPhone on the App Store. The shield is built on Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls, which are iOS-only. If you'd like to see BlessUp on Android, let us know — it helps us plan what to build next.
